I bought the 6424 rather than the 6870 and my brushup is of the 6242 not the 6870 which are the same except for an upgraded video card – Nvidia, in the 6242. When I bought the 6242 it was 50 dollars more expensive than the 6870 and the upgraded video card seemed worthwhile. Since then Amazon has dropped the cost of the 6870 which is immediately approximately 150 dollars less expensive. I experience not employed or compared the 6870 but did usage a Toshiba Portege which uses the same intel video chip as the 6870 and while the 6242 had in my opinion a ameliorate video ikon than the Toshiba, if I were doing it over, I would not wage an extra $150 for the 6242.
That being make as mud, I did compare hands on the Toshiba Portege 13.3 inch screen computer, the Sony S and the Acer 6242. I also looked at the specs for the Asus 13.3 computers. I did not want to spend $1000 which removed completely the sexy actually slim Acer and Asus computers. The Sony S runs really hot – I looked at it at two different stores and although the computer has higher resolution, a made in DVD drive and weighs less than the Acers in improver to costing about $1000, the heat issue with both machines idling was decent to dissuade me from them. The Toshiba Portege and the Asus which match the Acers are both several hundred dollars more expensive and come with some marginally upgraded equipment; a 7200 rpm hard drive on the Asus and 6 gigabytes equally opposed to 4 on the Acer equally considerably as a DVD drive on the Toshiba, for me neither of these was enough of an incentive to spend the extra money. 2 gb of ram doesn’t cost0 $200 dollars and an upgrade hard drive the same. Acer does not offering this option. I do programme when solid state drives both gone larger and AS3830T-6870 less expensive to swap my 5400 rpm drive out for one.
